Jodhpur - Ajit Bhawan hotel

Jodhpur, the 2nd largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur,  is known as the "Blue City" due to the vivid blue-painted houses around the spectacular Mehrangarh Fort. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates.

We flew in on a very new 737 operated by budget airline Jet Airways. Jodhpur airport is an air force base with jets and tanks and other weapons hiding in bunkers alongside the runway - photography strictly not allowed!

Only an hour's flight  from Delhi but it's much hotter here, we are near the Thar desert. A quick taxi ride in a very old car without air-con brought us to the Ajit Bhawan hotel where we were met by a doorman with a magnificent moustache. (We'll see if we can snap his pic later.)

The hotel is fantastic:

We've taken t eiasy today, we are here for 6 days. We had lunch in the restaurant (great food and very cheap prices), had a swim and arranged a visit to the fort on Sunday morning.
Pre-dinner cocktails
