Not just mad dogs and Englishmen

Another hot day today but we thought we should venture into the city and see some sites. Driving in Delhi is an art form which we were happy to leave to our taxi driver and his little van
Lots of tooting, swerving and squeezing - but in about half an hour we were in old Delhi at the Red Fort
Red Fort is a 17th century fort built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Delhi served as the capital of the Mughals until 1857 when the Mughal emperor  was exiled by the British Indian government.

The fort lies alongside the Yamuna River  which once fed the moats that surround most of the walls. Inside the fort there are a number of buildings and palaces with ornate decoration.

Then we went to Humayan's Tomb, the building that inspired the Taj Mahal

We had lunch at a restaurant next to Lodi Gardens.
Then home for a sleep, a swim and dinner. Just the two of us here tonight and Shekhar our
chef made us chicken masala dosai, followed by pears poached in orange and saffron syrup. Superb.
